U.S. President Barack Obama has declared his intent to attend the East Asia Summit (EAS) to be held in Bali in late November 2011.

The U.S. President’s participation in the meeting was confirmed to Bali’s provincial spokesman, Ketut Teneng, by U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel.

The date for the Bali meeting between 16 East Asian nations, including Russian and America as participants is tentatively scheduled for November 21, 2011.

Prior to Obama’s visit in November, U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is slated to visit Bali to attend an Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Regional Forum Dialogue running July 15-23, 2011.

While the U.S. Embassy is not officially confirming either visit, it is understood that Bali’s governor has been given the “heads up” by U.S. officials on both the Clinton and Obama visits to Bali.

Chinese President Hu Jintao will also be attending the November summit making for interesting sideline discussions between the two superpower leaders.

Previous plans for Obama to visit were cancelled when sudden, more pressing domestic agendas prevented the President from revisiting the island he visited for a writing sabbatical before embarking on his political career.
