Festival Danau Batur or the Lake Batur Festival will be held in Kintamani October 10-11, 2011 – the first time this event has been held at the volcano-based community in central Bali.

Envisioned in order to promote Kintamani and the surrounding areas as a tourist destination, the two-day festival will feature boat races, musical concerts by Koes Plus and Ebiet G. Ade, and a number of tourism workshops and seminars.

Quoted by the State News Agency Antara, Muhammad Faried, the Director for Domestic Tourism Destination from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said, “we hope that the hosting of the Lake Batur Festival will promote more tourists to north Bali.”

Citing the over-crowded conditions in Bali’s south, Faried emphasized that Bali’s north has many destinations for tourism, such as the beauty of Lake Batur at Kintamani.
