Bali News: Indonesian Tourism Arrivals Up 7.32% foreign-tourist-arrivals

Information provided by the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) shows 608,100 foreign tourists visited Indonesia in April 2011, an increase of 9.39% when compared to April 2010 when 555,900 tourists visited the country.

221,014 visitors or 36.3% of all tourist visitors to Indonesia in April passed through Bali's Ngurah Rai airport. During the same month 151,989 foreign visitors landed at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

On a cumulative basis for January-April 2011, national tourism arrivals totaled 2.32 million, an increase of 7.2% when compared to the same period in 2010.

While Indonesia's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Jero Wacik, remains optimistic that he will achieve a targeted 7.7 million foreign tourists in 2011, the rate of growth covering the first four months of 2011 suggest a more modest result of only 7.5 million visitors.

The average rate of occupancy across 20 provinces of Indonesia in April 2011 stood at 52.1%, a 2.41% improvement over April 2010 when the corresponding average occupancy reached 49.69%.

The length of stay for foreign tourists across 20 provinces in April totaled on 2.07 days, increasing 0.08 days when compared to April 2010.
