Direct Flights to Increase Russian Tourists
The statistics for Russian tourists coming to Bali have been positively influenced since the implementation of direct flights from Moscow-Denpasar.
Honorary consul of Russia, Nuku Kamka, said on Monday, that additional flights from Moscow-Denpasar either by Russian or Indonesian airlines has the potential to encourage an even greater number of Russian tourists to Bali.
Mr. Kamka stated that in 2009 and 2010 Russian tourists visiting Bali relied on using a Trans Aero charter flight. This Russian private airline has given nearly three years of charter flight service from Russia to Bali.
In 2011 he expects Russia’s national airline Aeroflot to increase services to the island. In December and January Aeroflot only served charter flights, although it appears that they are now testing the water again. “If Aeroflot thinks it’s profitable enough they will make regular flights from Moscow to Bali” added Kamka. Furthermore, the bilateral agreements between Aeroflot and Garuda Airways set in mid-2010 will be realised in 2011.
According to Bisnis Bali the highest number of Russian tourists visit Bali each month has reached 58,000 to 60,000 people.
