Bali`s hotel occupancy rate up 4.17 %
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The average occupancy rate of hotels in Bali in June was 64.56 percent, or an increase of 4.17 percent compared with that in the previous month which was 60.39 percent, a statistics official said.
"Hotels occupancy rate increased because the number of domestic and foreign tourist arrivals also increased by 12.12 percent," Head of the Bali branch of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Ida Komang Wisnu said here on Monday.
He said that foreign tourist arrivals in Bali in June were recorded at 228.045, or an increase of 12.12 percent from that in the previous month.
The overall number of tourist arrivals in Bali in the January-June 2010 period reached 1,180,118, or an increase of 10.23 percent compared with that in the same period in 2009.
Australian tourists accounted for23.56 percent of the overall tourist arrivals in the province in the six-month period this year.
In the first semester of this year, a total of 278,049 Australians visited the resort island of Bali in the first half of 2010, up 53.89 percent from a year earlier.
"The figure put Australia in the first place among top ten countries of origin of foreign tourists visiting Bali," Ida Komang Wisnu said.
Most of the Australian tourists came to Bali by air and only 5,958 by sea, he said.
He said the number of tourist arrivals from six of the top ten origin countries saw an increase in the first half of 2010 while that of the other four countries fell.
The number of tourists from Australia rose 53.89 percent to 278,049 from 180,686, China 0.33 percent to 98,258 from 97,930, Taiwan 13.10 percent to 65,589 from 57,994, the Netherlands 40.53 percent to 36,082 from 25,676, Britain 2.19 percent to 38,526 from 37,701 and Singapore 55.36 percent to 41,483 from 26,702.
Meanwhile, the number of tourists from Japan fell 22.29 percent from 154,071 to 119,731, Malaysia 6.23 percent from 73,853 to 69,251, South Korea 5.81 percent from 63,045 to 59,384 and France 7.67 percent from 45,716 to 42,211.
