Bali News: Bali Airport Arrival Hall Expanding by 66%
(12/11/2010) PT Angkasa Pura I (API), the managers of Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport, are in the process of expanding the Visa-on-Arrival hall from its current 900 square meters to 1,500 square meters at a cost of Rp. 4 billion (US$444,445).

The larger arrival hall will be in operation before the end of December 2010.

API's manager in Bali, Heru Legowo, told NusaBali that the larger arrival hall will help reduce bottlenecks of waiting visitors occasioned when several planes arrive in close time proximity. The peak hours when lines are said to be at their worst occur between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm when arrivals from Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Australia converge on Bali's sole air gateway.

Legowo said that in addition to a larger arrival hall passengers will also be given free mineral water and amplified music to reduce the stress of waiting in line.

No mention, however, was made in the article of adding more immigration officials to speed the processing time through visa-immigration lines.
