Badung Handicraft Attracts Chinese Citizen

Economy and trade cooperation between Indonesia and Chinese opened widely not just for big scale industry and tourism but also handicraft industry. This fact known when Badung Regent Anak Agung Gde Agung, the Head of Badung Parliamentary Made Sumer Apt. and the Head of Badung Dekranasda Mrs. Ratna Gde Agung followed up Badung craftman who had sent to Shanghai Expo 2010 last week in Shanghai, China. These protégé of Badung Dekranasda comprises painter, carver, and sculptor who made statue by kepeng money.

Regent Gde Agung presented handicraft industry and Badung attractions to the visitors. Then, the Chinese buyer explained if Cina economy growth vastly in these few years, it is potential market for any products of Badung handicraft. For him, economy cooperation between China and Indonesia have been growth in many sector. For Badung itself, this cooperation had built through tourism sector. Moreover, marketing of this handicraft product could be next step of the economy relationship through both countries.

“Nowadays, China economy got second rank among other countries in the world so their citizen had great buying power. Many Chinese citizen was travelling abroad and collecting art stuff. It was our chance to promote Badung handicraft products to them. Badung participation to the Shanghai Expo had opened big chance that should reached by routine handicraft promotion,” he added.

Deputy Director China Pavilion Yao Rui as the creator of Expo Shanghai 2010 appreciated Badung role in this international event. According to him, Indonesia pavilion gave unique nuance by the presence of Badung handicraft products that emphasized human skill of the craftman. He ensured if this event could increase trade cooperation between both countries also as pioneer for the other sector. Regent Gde Agung confessed his satisfaction about Chinese citizen interest to visit Badung. In that chance, Regent Gde Agung through Director Indonesia Pavilion gave reward to the 7th million visitor of Indonesia pavilion in the form of hotel voucher in Badung Regency, Bali for 3 days 2 nights.
