The Bali Post reports that 90 companies have received letters of warning from the Social Serve and Manpower Agency (Disosnaker) of Badung Regency for employing foreigners on expired employment passes.

Disosnaker Badung have cautioned that they are preparing to take firm actions against erring companies that continue in their failure to extend foreign worker’s employment permits.

The 90 companies are now a matter of official record, listed in a letter issued July 20,2011 (Disosnaker Badung Nomor: 560/2394/VII/Disosnaker 20 Juli 2011). The 90 companies are listed as the employers of 99 foreign workers with employment permits that have expired. According to authorities, some of the worst violations are for foreign workers whose permits have expired more than one year ago.

The head of the Disosnaker office in Badung, Ngurah Bagus Agung, said on Thursday, July 28, 2011 said he is giving until August 5, 2011, for companies listed to confirm that the required permits have been extended. He warned that those who ignore this deadline can expect tough enforcement from his office.

The employment of foreigners without the required employment permits can result in fines and prison sentences for both the employer and the subject illegal worker.
