Safety Audits for 25 Starred Hotels in Bali Now Underway

(11/24/2012)

The Bali chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI-Bali) is targeting by the end of 2012 to have audited the safety systems of 25 four and give star-rated hotels in Bali.

“We are targeting to audit the safety and security systems of 25 starred hotels before the end of the year in anticipation of the APEC Summit in 2013,” said the Executive Director of the PHRI Bali, Ida Bagus Purwa Sideman on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

As reported by the State News Agency Antara, the hotels undergoing the safety audit are located in the Nusa Dua and Jimbaran areas of Bali. Hotels in these areas will be those primarily used by delegates attending the APEC Summit in 2013.

Sideman explained that 14 of the hotels to be reviewed are located within the Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC).

Once it is determined that the hotels meet safety requirement they will be issued with safety management audit certificates from the police, replacing existing safety certification issued by the Bali police.

Sideman said other hotels in Bali would be audited for safety certification once the initial 25 are complete.

According the PHRI-Bali chief, Bali is serving as a pilot-project of a national wide safety management system to be eventually introduced across Indonesia by the Minister of Tourism and the Creative Economy.
