Central Java Terror Incident in Solo Puts Bali Police on Higher Level of Alert

The Bali police have ordered their officers to increase their preparedness following a terrorist attack on police in Solo, Central Java that left several dead.

The State News Agency Antara quotes Hariadi, spokesman for the Bali Police Headquarters, saying on Monday, September 3, 2012: “The ranks of Bali police have been instructed to increase their level of preparedness; all our officers cannot be less than vigilant and steadfast in safeguarding the public, their police stations and themselves.”

Field officers in Bali were also issued arms to be used as needed.

Increases states of alert were also marked with tighter controls at all access points to Bali. Security was tightened at the seaports of Gilimanuk and Padang Bai and the Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Likewise, main tourist attractions and public places have received extra police personnel.

Hariadi added, “We also invite all members of the public to synergize their efforts with the police to fight terrorism.”
